LARP Samurai Sword
Commonly referred to in the west as a “samurai sword,” the katana has a storied history as the weapon of choice for the noble warriors of feudal Japan. Featuring a single-sided blade with a slight curve, the katana was designed to be drawn fluidly from its sheathe. Ideally, wielders could draw their katanas and kill their opponents in one blinding motion. Advanced steel-folding techniques were used to forge these weapons, making them several times harder than inferior metals. As a result, they could be used to shatter an opponent’s sword or even cleave through armor if the wielder was strong enough.
Of course, more important than the tremendous combat capabilities of a katana are the ideals it stands for. Ordinary citizens of feudal Japan were not permitted to carry a samurai’s weaponry, because it represented their distinction, social status, and an intense commitment to their personal duty. Because of this, the katana had become closely symbolic of the warrior’s values of bushido: loyalty, honor, respect, benevolence, honesty, courage, and right action.
Whether you are your Daimyo Lord’s right-hand warrior or a masterless wandering Ronin, your katana is proof of your dedication to your ideals. Even if you just want to imply that your character is a more thoughtful and philosophical warrior-poet than your average soldier, the katana’s unmistakeable design will remind you to maintain inner tranquility while enacting outer conflict.

The foam samurai sword has a 36” blade which features a slightly asymmetrical cut, reminiscent of the real katana’s curve.
